Intervoice

  • Intervoice (International Hearing Voices Projects) is a charity, registered in the UK, that aims to support the International Hearing Voices Movement by connecting people, sharing ideas, distributing information, highlighting innovative initiatives, encouraging high quality respectful research and promoting its values across the world.

As a global movement of diverse people, countries, and ideas, Intervoice values the inclusion of many voices and perspectives. The Hearing Voices Movement embrace the importance of hearing and integrating multiple viewpoints, recognising that there is no single way to address the complexities of voice hearing. The movement supports change on various levels—whether you’re making sense of your own voice hearing experience, sharing knowledge within your community, improving support for others, or driving systemic change. The Hearing Voices Movement welcome and encourage all forms of contribution, understanding that transformation happens individually, collectively, and across society.

Listening to Voices

  • Listening to Voices is a dynamic initiative that harnesses the power of experiential theatre to transform mental health practices. By sharing personal stories, the program ignites critical conversations around mental health, offering unique professional development opportunities. Listening to Voices amplifies the perspectives of those with lived experiences, helping to shape future mental health responses. The initiative also addresses stigma by highlighting the connections between trauma, family violence, bullying, and mental health, while fostering person-centered, trauma-informed, and empathetic workforces. Through its work, Listening to Voices inspires critical reflection and promotes hopeful practices, such as the Hearing Voices Approach.

“I decided that my mind, body, and spirit had worked together to craft the best they could with limited resources, and to see myself as a helpless victim of chronic “mental illness” was merely adding insult to injury.”
